Hey - Rhea, Paul, Monica and I went to Waterstones in Picadilly Circus. We visited the poetry, music and art sections.
Poetry
There were not many illustrated poetry books (although Rhea did ask) however one that we came across had had written text and illustrations across all the pages, which looked effective. If we were using illustrations, it might be nice to do it this way. This book had a love theme, with illustrations related to the poetry.
Music
Prince had an interesting book full of photographs, poetry, and lyrics and a CD. This worked as it contained great original photographs, and the lyrics and poetry were related to the photos and the 21 day tour he did. The idea of using music lyrics and poetry within a photographic book was interesting.
Art
There was a great book which contained secrets/confessions of ordinary people. These secrets were written in various fonts, some in a handwritten style over various images that related to the text. The author wrote it took 2 yrs to collect these thoughts (over 350) for the book. So an idea was to collect the thoughts of others based on the theme of the book we decided on, perhaps by putting a box in LCC or maybe the other collages to add to the book. We would provide information to explain what we wanted, or write some ourselves. If we were using love we could ask for their thoughts on that, or perhaps pose questions for them to answer.
Once we decided on the theme we could include poetry, lyrics and these collection of thoughts with the images we wish to use, instead of using just poetry, or just lyrics.
